To no one’s surprise, Valtteri Bottas was just officially confirmed as the driver to replace Nico Rosberg. The deal came through after weeks of negotiation with Williams, and affects other F1 personell as well.
Wehrlein gets a second season in F1 by joining Sauber F1 alongside Marcus Ercisson, while Felipe Massa reportedly canceled a Formula E drive and instead is coming back to Williams for another last season. At Williams, his experience will be crucial to help 18-year old Lance Stroll develop as a driver. Williams also is modifying their team structure: James Key, designer of many tremendously efficient and beautiful cars at Toro Rosso, and Paddy Lowe, McLaren and Mercedes mastermind, will join the team and slowly take over day-to-day business from Pat Symonds and Claire Williams.
With that announcement official, F1 is pretty much set for the new season. You’ll still have to wait a whole month until the cars are revealed though.
