Lotterer has been a Jaguar F1 test driver back in 2002 and has enjoyed many victories in the second fastest open wheel series, Formula Nippon, including a won title with Toyota's TOM team. How will he do in the Caterham? I'm not sure. While he's undoubtedly talented behind the wheel of anything, the current car has terrible balance, a lack of downforce and a Renault engine known for unreliability and non-homogeneous power delivery. That's the exact opposite of an easy task for a 32-year old F1 rookie.
